BELT GRADINGS

In the event of a belt test the time taken is at the examiners discretion however the marking structure of the grading always follow the same pattern;

Pass
Merit
Distinction

The grading is based on point scoring. The whole grading is worth 100 points, 10 points for each part of the grading i.e.:

Attendance 10 points
Exercise 10 points
Stances 10 points
Strikes 10 points
Kicks 10 points
Blocks 10 points
Combinations 10 points
Takedowns 10 points
Sparing 10 points
Total 90 points

The instructors award 10 points for the students training to date or between belts.

Total 100 points

The following is then required to achieve the grading.

Pass 60 – 70 points
Merit 71 – 80 points
Distinction 81 – 100 points

Belts aren't just given away for the sake of making the Club look good, they do need to be worked for and to get a pass is a high standard in itself.

No belt jumping will be offered by the Club or the Association, everyone will start with a White Belt and work through each grading.

A full training Gi must be worn on the night of the grading with your current belt.
